Position Overview

The core responsibilities of the Property/Auto Underwriting Assistant are to assist the Underwriters with the completion of underwriting tasks for personal lines. This role focuses mainly on new business, endorsements, renewals and inspections, as well as provides back-up to the Receptionist.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Processing of new Business applications for automobile and residential insurance.
    This includes reviewing applications, entry of information into our custom insurance system, discussing issues with underwriters and following up with our sales force.
  • Processing of endorsements for automobile and residential insurance.
    Similar to new business,  you will review requests for policy changes sent in and apply the appropriate changes in our insurance system.
  • Processing automobile policy renewals in accordance with company standards and review for accuracy.

Other Responsibilities

  • Printing and policy preparation
  • Reception coverage for lunch hour
  • Participating in training, meetings and other company functions

  • Adaptable and flexible to different work environments


  • Post-secondary education
  • General Business diploma would be an asset
  • Driven to enroll in the CIP program at the Insurance Institute 


  • Office work in an administrative role would be an asset
